Life may be rich for the Duttons on Yellowstone, but things were a little rougher for their ancestors before they settled in Montana. That’s the story that the new Yellowstone prequel show 1883 sets out to tell, following the Duttons of the p ast on their journey to found their iconic ranch. But just because they live on the dusty trail, it doesn’t mean that the real life actors who play the Dutton progenitors don’t know how to get glammed up for the red carpet. Here, a look at what all of the stars of 1883 really look like out of the period dress.
Isabel May as Elsa Dutton
Known for her work on Alexa and Katie and Young Sheldon, May plays the eldest Dutton child, the spirited teen Elsa.

The Dutton family patriarch James, might not live quite as glamorous a life as the Grammy-winning country star who plays him, but they do have one thing in common—their wives. McGraw is the real life husband on his onscreen leading lady, Faith Hill.
