‘Yellowstone’ Creator Taylor Sheridan Hints at Real Reason Kevin Costner Is Leaving
We all know that Kevin Costner’s marriage to Christine Baumgartner has been “taken to the train station,” to quote his beloved Yellowstone character. Now, an interview with the showrunner Taylor Sheridan seems to hint at why Christine has called it quits after almost two decades of marriage, and it doesn’t have as much to do with the hit show as rumors would have it.

Taylor dished on his show’s star during a recent interview.
Fans have long wondered what would become of the Dutton family patriarch before the series saw its last Montana sunset, but according to Taylor, they may not get the closure they had hoped for thanks to Kevin’s request for an early departure from the show.
Rumors of creative differences and fighting on set have swirled around the news that Kevin was leaving, but Taylor is painting a different picture of what went down behind closed doors.

He spilled the beans to The Hollywood Reporter and blamed a scheduling conflict.
According to Taylor, it wasn’t the long days on set that we’re getting to Kevin — and to hear Taylor tell it the days were long with filming sometimes taking place six days a week — but instead a desire to work on another pet project that had Kevin going in a different direction.
“My last conversation with Kevin was that he had this passion project he wanted to direct,” he explained. “He and the network were arguing about when he could be done with Yellowstone. I said, ‘We can certainly work a schedule toward [his preferred exit date],’ which we did.”

Kevin has been working on a four-movie saga.
The father of seven has been working on his pet project for 35 years, according to the magazine.
Kevin’s obviously invested a lot of time into the project over those three decades and now that it’s finally up and running he’s turning his full attention to the project — he will also be co-writing, directing, and starring in Horizon series of films — which has left little time for Christine and his children. Chritine and Kevin share three children together.
This explains why Christine is rumored to be upset that Kevin is never around.
One of the rumored reasons for the couple’s split has been the fact that Kevin is never around.
With his busy Yellowstone schedule and all the time and energy he’s putting into getting Horizon off the ground, it’s easy to believe that his busy schedule is behind their contentious divorce.

We can’t imagine Kevin and Christine’s kids will get to see more of their dad with his new schedule.
Unfortunately, with their parents separated and their dad embarking on a new project, it’s hard to imagine that 16-year-old Cayden, 14-year-old Hayes, and 13-year-old Grace will get more quality time with their dad.
This has to be a tough time for the trio and it’s probably good that they have one another while their parents work through their split.
