Yellowstone’s Kelsey Asbille (Monica Dutton) Says Her Character Is Just Now Finding Her Place In The Family: “Her Part Of The Dutton Legacy”
It’s truly hard to wrap my mind around the fact that after five seasons, Yellowstone will be coming to an end.
Of course, it was initially reported that it was going to last for six or seven seasons, so this abrupt ending is still a shock to everybody, and it has us all wondering how it will end after the premiere of the second half of season five.
With that being said, one Yellowstone star is reflecting on her time on the show, and it’s no other than Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Dutton.
In an interview with the New York Post, Asbille discussed her character, and the reason why even the show’s most unhinged characters tend to listen to Monica when she speaks:
“I love that (Monica’s a slow burn). I think she’s really, now, finding her place in the family and what her part in the Dutton legacy is, and I’m really excited to see her take that on.”
She also weighed in on the moment she read the script of how she loses her newborn son in a car accident:
“I felt so much responsibility, because we wanted to approach that with such a sensitivity. Yeah, you shouldn’t read that scene in a public space. I was just trying to cover my face.
My mom and I drove to Montana together this year. Knowing that big storyline, it actually gave me those conversations with my mom about her own experiences with child loss, in a way that we had never talked about it before. So that was a really beautiful part of the process.”
Asbille then discussed how Taylor Sheridan educates his audience through his writing:
“I think our audience shows the complexity of America. And I think that’s the genius of Taylor’s writing: He’s able to have these conversations about land, and land politics, in a way that can educate and provoke.”
There are still no updates on when the second half of season five will premiere.
